I would love this machine, but I think I would like the oven that doubles as a fridge. I have no idea what brand it is, but it would be great if I could put something in the fridgoven in the morning when I go to work, and not worry about the food sitting out when it only needs to cook for an hour. What a time saver.
Also on the new washer/dryer I noticed you said it had a countdown to completion timer, that would be WONDERFUL!

This is a compensated review from BlogHer and Samsung Home Appliances

My heart just about jumped out of my chest when BlogHer asked me to chose which brand new SAMSUNG appliance I would like to review (and OWN)! Are you serious?!?!? I made Joe re-read the email over and over to make sure I was translating it correctly. YEP!

And YES--SAMSUNG! They dominate at everything else electric, so why not appliances?

We, the Steece family of 6, are now the proud owners of the Samsung, top-o-the-line, extra large capacity, front loading washer (model: #WF448AAP)
and dryer (model: #DV448AEP)--complete with pedestals!!!

Out with the old...(I'm gonna miss you, 'ole buddy 'ole pal...we've been through LOADS of baby spit up together)

...and in with the brand, spankin' new!
LOVE Mr. Delivery Man's face---"YES! They are quadruplets!" (notice the quad-crowd watching from above?)

Well...whadya think, guys? (The kids were in awe of the giant machines!)

Ben: "OOOOOOOOoooooo!!!"

But enough gawkin'...Mama has work to do! You see, I saved up on laundry so that I could run several different loads in the new W&D! (Yah right...who am I kiddin'...this is Mom & Dad's laundry on a GOOD week!)

Time to sit down and read through those user manuals (Yes! I am THAT particular and thoroughly read through each and every instruction booklet before setting up new gadgets, don't you?) The booklets were very easy and concise.

Samsung Washer Model WF448AAP (isn't she beautiful?!?!)

Click on the image below to view a detailed description of features.

Here are a few of my favorites:

1. EXTRA LARGE CAPACITY!- it can wash a king sized comforter or up to 28 bath towels in a single load! Which is awesome in a house full of 6--the laundry adds up VERRRY quickly! By washing fewer loads--I save time, money, water, and energy! (Ethan checking things out)

2. VRT (Vibration Reduction Technology)- performs smoothly at top spin speeds while minimizing noise and vibration. (Fantastic for sleeping kiddos!)

3. Stylish Design- heck ya! Funny how the most exquisite part of our house has now become our laundry room!

4. Diamond Drum- Tiny little holes that are 36% smaller than conventional drums which prevent fabrics from getting caught or damaged

5. LCD Display & Center Jog Dial- it is SO easy to use and I love how the screen lights up in the dark as well! Look at all of those different cycles! I also love the countdown to completion.

The child lock button will also come in handy with 4 curious kids sneaking in and out of rooms they shouldn't be in! Just press the "Soil Level" & "Signal" buttons simultaneously.

6. Silver Care Sanitation Cycle- 16 million trillion silver (widely known for its antimicrobial properties) ions are released during this particular cycle which does NOT use HOT water---This, in turn, uses 92% LESS energy while killing more than 99.9% of bacteria.

Things to take into consideration:

- Expensive: From what I have researched, this is the "top of the top of the line" when it comes to washing machines and averages around $1400. This particular washer is among the most highly rated front-loading washers in professional appliance testing (Consumer Reports & Good Housekeeping) and I believe it! It is amazing!

- Silver plates must be replaced after 1,000 Silvercare Cycles have been run. If you push the signal button and the silver care button simultaneously, the total number of silver cycles run will be displayed...so it is easy to keep track.

Samsung Dryer Model DV448AEP

Click on the image below to view a detailed description of features.

Here are a few of my favorites:

1. Fuzzy Logic Algorithm- What's this you ask? Sensors measure the degree of dampness and automatically set the drying time! Talk about super energy efficient! I love that it automatically shuts off when it detects that the clothes are perfectly dry to the particular level you choose (5 different drying levels: very dry to damp dry) and not a second longer---no more crisp clothes that have been blown to bits!

2. Mixed Load Bell- When laundry contains various types of cloth which vary in weight and drying time, a bell will alarm when the average dry level is 80% dried---perfect for taking out those polos that Joe doesn't want dried all the way and wrinkled! (I LOOOOVE this feature!)

3. Extra Large Capacity- Again, I am amazed at the amount of laundry I can fit into the washer & dryer! They are HUGE!

4. Refresh or Steam cycle- Say you want to wear something that has been hanging in your closet, smushed and wrinkled---simply throw it in the dryer under "refresh cycle" and it will spray a small amount of water while tumbling with heat. It reduces bad odor and wrinkles! Awesome.

5. Wrinkle Care- It is a button you can push with any cycle-- a small amount of water is sprayed into the drum to release wrinkles from items that have been left in the dryer too long and will continue for up to 90 minutes. I was completely amazed as I pulled load after load out of the dryer and the clothes were hardly wrinkled at all!

6. Rack Dry- Items such as stuffed toys, sweaters, foam rubber pillows, shoes, etc. can be dried on a drying rack so they won't be tossed around. Very COOL!

Things to take into consideration:

- Expensive: Average price is around $1300. (But you definitely get what you pay for and you end up using less energy so it all evens out, right?!)

A Samsung washer would make my life much easier. We have 3 adults sharing one washer and if we could throw all our clothes in together at once, we would save a lot of water & electricity.

Unknown said...

I'd love a dishwasher. Ours pretty much never worked and our extended family get-togethers generate a ton of dishes that have to be hand-washed!

Ranee @ Arabian Knits said...

We so need a new dryer. We'd love to have the washer and dryer, but if you can only choose one, dryer would be it. It would save time and energy, and ours is already dying.

Jill said...

oh my goodness! the washer and dryer look amazing - i totally want them! i love that they hold a whole heck of a lot. so tired of doing a million loads of laundry because my washer is dinky.

Beth said...

I need an upadated washer and dryer. Too many towels and my washer is jumping all over the place. The dryer usually has to go two spin cycles to get everything dry. Both are small, with a family of four all I do is wash and dry clothes plus the dryer clothes can come out with wholes and rips sometimes not sure if that is the washer or dryer and the wrinkles !! I use a dry cleaner because I hate to iron. The extra money I spend! Thanks for asking. Beth

Cuscini said...

I'm so glad for you -- you certainly deserve this washer and dryer!

I'd love to get a new stove; mine is taking forever to heat up. It came from a dent center twenty years ago, and it's given good service, but it's ty-yme!

Shelley LaValley said...

A freezer, a freezer oh yes I'd love a freezer! Getting ready to start online grad school at ACU and being able to stock up ahead of time would be awesome to keep my three kiddos and hubby supplied with plenty of treats! BTW, I LOVE your blog and have enjoyed reading it the past two years.

WOW - those are beautiful. I need a new fridge but my washer sounds like a space shuttle taking off every time it goes in to the spin cycle - so I know any day now it's a goner. Kerry the_mccaffreys@hotmail.com

I would have to pick....ALL of them.. I recently moved into a forcloser townhouse and all of the appliances are very out of date and not energy efficent. I'm sure we could save a lot of money if we were to upgrade just about everything! Eventually we will but it will take some time and money.

I’m torn between the fridge and the dishwasher. Both of mine are in dire need of replacement. But I’ll probably have to go with the fridge. A kid alarm in it for when they’ve been browsing too long! Jeez, that’s awesome.

Unknown said...

Having 4 kids (16 to 7) and a husband, I too know how much laundry a family of six can make. Trying to keep up is nearly a full time job by itself! This giftcard would truly be a blessing from God for my one-income family.

Tricia said...

Wow! I'm in awe of the washer/dryer combo!

I could easily use (NEED) a Range Electric from Samsung!!! We moved into a house 2 years ago where everything is 20-30 years old, the furnace, hot water heater, stove, and refrigerator plus us 20 year old roof is leaking! All of our money is going into the roof at this point. But I love baking/cooking, and our gas oven cooks things unevenly...depending on the day it will under cook things or when I want to bake of course it will burn my cakes, brownies, and breads.

What a generous giveaway!

We totally need the Dishwasher (DMR78AHS). Ours is really old, doesn't wash efficiently and really rings up the energy bill for us. We usually just hand wash, because it's cheaper. If we had a new dishwasher, though, we'd definitely use it more!

Kelli said...

A new washer/dryer would be great! Ours is falling apart at the moment.

Those are awfully pretty (love the pic of your kids watching the delivery!), but I'd love the new fridge! We're doing a kitchen remodel and the fridge is the first appliance I'd like to replace (in phase 2)!

I could really use the dishwasher!! Dishwasher (DMR78AHS)
Ours is so loud, and unless we wash our dishes first I can't really say that they would come out clean. This diswasher(DMR78AHS)looks like it would be great with the flexible loading option for washing all types of dishes, like parts from my crockpot!!! Thanks for this giveaway, it is truly awesome!!

The washer and dryer look amazing. It would be hard to choose between the two.

I just want pedestals for my washer and dryer. I too have front loading machines, but we just couldn't justify splurging even more for the pedestals. I would LOVE to not have to bend down so far to load and unload. At almost 6 feet tall, that's a long way down for me.

I love the pictures!
I would have to say the washer would help me out a TON. We still have the same cheap(est) model washer and dryer tham my parents bought us when my sister and I lived together in college. Married with a child later, we're still using the washer. It's not the biggest so I can't wash our blankets or more than 5 pairs of jeans. Needless to say I do a bunch of loads, and have to take my comforter to my Mom's house (4 hours away).
The washer would help us in more ways than you can imagine.

I would say washer & dryer... which I own! This exact brand, as a matter of fact. I've had them for a year and still haven't read the manuals all the way though but have been WANTING to do so. I can't seem to find them :/ You did point out some features that I wasn't aware of though!

The one issue I run into with them is the power and play/pause buttons stick... and if they stick it'll stop running - sometimes without me noticing, which is annoying. So, be sure to double check that they aren't stuck before you walk away! (Though I believe that may be listed in the manual's troubleshooting section - I did glance through it once upon a time! - so you probably already know that!)

I cracked up at the picture of you half hanging out of the dryer. Very nice.

A new washer and dryer would be great. The ones that I have now of hand-me-downs from my sister who just got new Samsungs!! I am very thankful for her hand-me-downs because the ones that I had before were wore out!

Kristine in WA said...

We are in the market for all new major appliances. BUT after your review now I think we need a new washer and dryer FIRST.

Amber said...

This has got to be the coolest job. I would love to have the W/D. I have a king comforter that I have to haul to a laundry mat or dry cleaners everytime it needs cleaned. I even steam cleaned it with my carpet/upholstery (sp) cleaner once to keep from taking it somewhere. Enjoy!

all of the above...We left a house to go to law school, and miss not having a dish washer. I don't know if one would fit in our teeny-tiny apartment with the two kids, but we would work it out!

the washer and dryer would definitely make my life easier. we've just got a family of 4 but the laundry sure piles up. plus, they're so pretty!

Although my kiddos and I would have HOURS of fun trying out all the nifty gadgets on the Samsung washer/dryer set, we are in dire need of a new refrigerator. My house did not come with a refrigerator, forcing me to buy one, and now we seem to be stuck with this tiny refrigerator that I can only store about 3 days worth of groceries in, forcing me to make many, many trips to the store throughout the week. I wouldn't know what to do with a fridge I could actually stand up-right in front of and look through my food, although my daughter, Brylie, who is 2, things it's super cool that there is something that is just her size in our house! =)

Congrats on your new beauties!

I would LOVE a new fridge! We have three little ones and a small fridge. A new frige would cut down on the trips to the grocery and allow us to buy more in bulk.

Thanks!

I would love the fridge - Samsung RFG297AARS would be amazing! Our smaller side by side fridge doesn't even have a water dispenser, which means the lower shelf is filled with our refillable water bottles for my family. It looks so sharp in the stainless steel too.

Brandie said...

I actually have the model before that one...and I'm with you, it makes washing clothes SO MUCH FUN! I also love that the alarm "sings" to you rather than screams or annoys. Which Samsung product would I pick....easy, dishwasher! Our current one is so tiny and isn't very user friendly!

Gee, this W/D is out of price range for so many folks. Several of my friends have had these front load washers that are very economical with water and no washer has lasted more than five years.

I wish we could get appliances that last in this country...

I'd love to have a samsung front load washer and dryer. The energy and water savings would be great. And, I'd love to have a cute countertop over my set like i've seen in so many designer laundry rooms. :)

I would love the Range Electric (FTQ387LWGX) to replace my old gas stove top possibly made in the 50s!

Your kids are adorable. Love your blog. I sure could use a new refriderator or a freezer. I love to buy in bulk but it's hard when since I have such a small fridge.

I could use a new dishwasher...our current one does not clean properly.

Nancy said...

It is a toss up between the microwave and the dishwasher. Both are over twenty years old and need replacing:)

Steph Bucher said...

I think I could use the fridge. Mines just not big enough for all the cooking I do!!!

Linda Stewart said...

I would say the range and refrigerator. My range doesn't hold heat as it should and I'm forced to extend cooking time or increase cooking temps to make sure a dish is fully cooked. My refrigerator has a major issue with condensation. It's a frost free fridge and rather than the water draining as it is supposed to it pools in the bottom of the fridge and I'm constantly having to removed the drawers and shelves to dry it out.

Kate said...

I really need the dishwasher, but you have made me yearn for the washer and dryer too! But, as my laundry machines still function well enough, I will have to stick with the dishwasher!

Sarah P said...

Washer and Dryer - definitely! I LOVE the new set you received! Beautiful and so time-efficient. The ones I have now work and are paid for, two of my favorite qualities. But they're also hand-me-downs or refurbs from the late 80s/early 90s. They inevitably bounce around the room when the baby is sleeping and I can only imagine what it would be like to wash more than 2 pairs of pants at one time without off-setting its balance! Congrats, Suz on your new washer/dryer set! I'm so happy for you!

Dishwasher! Mine is dying, and I hate doing dishes by hands. But that is a very cool washer and dryer set!

Amanda said...

I wish I had the washer and dryer, too! Being in an NYC apartment, I am stuck lugging laundry down to the basement, ugh!

Anonymous said...

Wow - those are HUGE! I'd go with a washer. We just tried to wash our queen-sized comforter last weekend, and ended up with water all over the garage and a comforter still steeped in detergent. It dried fine, but now it reeks of detergent. Sigh. Guess we'll be taking it to the dry cleaners.

I would have to say that the Washer/ Dryer. I have to take my queen comforters to the laundrymat to wash. I so hate going to the laudrymat. I do a load of laundry everynight for my family of 3(Husband,3 yrs old, and myself). Anything that would save time and money would be great. I would love to have a new washer/Dryer. Steece's, I am so jealous. Congrats!

Since I'm a single gal, I don't have much need for a large W/D or fridge. I think the Samsung microwave would be my choice. I nuke a lot of food/leftovers.

Wow - good, thorough review! What I'D love is the range, though. Not having to babysit things that are baking, gauging and guessing if the oven is running too hot or cool? Splendid!

Every review I read makes me change my mind!

I'm still going to have to say the refrigerator. Ours is tiny.

Taylor said...

Ug, I would LOVE a samsung range! My current one cooks unevenly and doesn't have a microwave above it, so my humongous old microwave takes up tons of counter space. But alas, with hubby in grad school, it's not in the budget this year!

I'm tempted to say THAT washer and dryer, because how amazing does it sound? But then I think of how old and clunky (and full) my fridge is...and I want to say a fridge...AND THEN I remember that we don't actually even OWN a dishwasher, no matter age or efficiency. So I think a new dishwasher would really help out around my place. :-)
