This is a compensated review by BlogHer and Juicy Juice.
Now that my 3-year-old quadruplets will be starting school again in the fall,I am desperately trying to find healthy items to stash in their lunch boxes (which is NO easy task, let me tell you).
Sodas are out of the question, so the only remaining "mom-approved" drink choices are: milk, juice, or water. It is beyond frustrating to pass shelf after shelf of high fructose corn syrup based juices.
This health conscious Mama is looking for 100% REAL fruit juice- NO added sugars or sweeteners, NO artificial preservatives or flavors...
Well, HELLLLOOOO Juicy Juice!
A big package of Juice boxes arrived at our door (thank you kindly, Nestle and BlogHer!), and I immediately had 4, very eager, willing participants who were more than happy to help Mama with her review.
(Benjamin, Andrew, Ethan & Savannah trying out the Juicy Juice Punch flavor)
Each 6 oz Juicy Juice box contains 100% Vitamin C and counts as 1.5 servings of fruit- which scores major bonus points with me.
Well guys...whadya think? (Here's at least one satisfied customer)
"Mommy! NO added sugar!" (what can I say? Drew gets excited about healthy living)
Ben: "Hey Ma, Look! I can hold it without squeezing all of the juice out!" (Ahhh...like music to my ears: convienient, portable, no mess)
Things I ♥ about Juicy Juice Punch:
- great, fresh taste
- convienient
- nutritious (100% Vitamin C, 1.5 servings of fruit, NO added sugar or high fructose corn syrup, NO artificial preservatives, NO artificial flavors)
Things to consider:
- The average price for an 8 pack of 6.75 oz Juicy Juice All Natural 100% Juice is ~$3.50

My daughter doesn't pack a lunch yet but I take one everyday! I always make a sandwich on whole grain bread, side of fruit, and air popped popcorn!
We enjoy carrots and pickles and cucumbers. We also have lots of fresh fruit..bananas, strawberries, apples, grapes.
Love all the ideas! My daughter is starting kindergarten next week so we will start packing lunches. She loves juice so the juice boxes would be great!

Apple juice, fruits and veggies
Carrots!
anika.steffen@gmail.com
My son loves string cheese and just all fruit!
My son actually likes some juice boxes that I get at WalMart that have both fruits & veggies in them. I forget the brand name....
Other snacks/lunch foods:
watermelon cut with the melon baller
raisins/craisins
grapes
little carrots
string cheese
rolled up lunch meat
sandwiches (cut with cookie cutters to make 'em fun)
go-gurt, frozen, and then it thaws by lunchtime
mandarin orange cups
sliced berries
yogurt parfaits (if your kiddos will eat them)
apple sauce
and every once in a while: a lunchables or "cracker stacker," as my son calls it.
My kiddos love to eat black pitted olives....so good for them! (I rinse them out first so they are not so salty.)
My kids like the Juicy Juice, too. But, it's a bit pricy -- esp. when my 8yo boy needs 2 in his lunch. (yeah, just wait until your 3 boys start really chowing down!).
Try the Capri Sun Roarin' Waters. They are flavored water.
Other greats for lunch...
string cheese, go-gurts (keep them in the freezer, thawed by lunch), dry cereal, fruit...
Have fun!!!
We freeze gogurts and pack ants on a log. I have one son who does not like bread so that makes for a tricky school lunch. We do meat and cheese rolls for him and pack whole wheat crackers for his carb.
I will have 2 little ones in school this fall (for the first time!!) and have a hard time thinking of things my picky eaters will enjoy. I found squeezeable fruit pouches (in the babyfood aisle of our organic food store) that were specifically made with school lunches in mind. I plan to stock up on those to make lunches a little more exciting mid-week for my little ones!
I have twin girls who love helping to pack lunches for playdates, and soon will be helping to pack lunches for school. (okay not Kindergarden yet)
Carrots are number one in our bags, we also do cucumbers and hummus. Sliced apples and oranges are always a hit with my kids.
I haven't had to pack a school lunch yet, but we do enjoy picnic lunches. We take fruit (grapes and bananas are favorites), homemade muffins or granola bars and sandwiches.
T loves Juicy juice. For Kindergarten, I bought a couple of thermos bottles and filled them with juicy juice. He did manage to bring them home and we saved on the cost. T is a milk drinker too. He loves the Horizon, organic, chocolate milk. Would love the gift basket! Thanks for the chance to win.
Also, over the summer I found Fruit Chillers made by Del Monte. Gonna try them in the lunch this week.
For my kindergartner, it's a turkey and cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread, string cheese, and watermelon. Sometimes I'll do GoGurt instead of cheese or watermelon. I usually just put a small bottle of water in there for him instead of juice.
I love packing yogurt in my kids' lunchboxes. I always pack Juicy Juice...my kids' favorite flavors are apple and grape.
Shannon A, paa5443@knology.net
My healthy lunch box options would have to be string cheese, yogurt, apple slices, baby carrots and dip...so yummy!

:)
I give my little girl string cheese, chopped up fruit (that I saute' in juicy juice apple juice)...she is only one so she only drinks water and whole milk
My boys are now 17 and 13 so I am past the juice box buying stage in my life but I still buy it in the plastic jugs as both do sports and can not drink "sugar" drinks. I am also a Kindergarten TA and they do serve JJ in the lunch room 2 times a week as a fruit replacement and I am THRILLED as so many kids will not eat fruit but they LOVE JJ so they are getting fruit:)
Your 4 kids are ADORBALE!!!!
What about PB on graham crackers with a little Nutella (OMG it is good:). Cheese sticks. Apples slices..I am impressed with what some kids will eat:)
I love searching for new, healthy snacks to put in lunch boxes! With three kids who all have very different tastes it can be challenging....saw some great ideas. My kids love nuts, cheese sticks, yogurt, raisins, and my little guy LOVES Juicy Juice boxes---and I love that he can hold it himself without squeeznig it everywhere. :)
Apples & peanut butter.
Our 4 kids love all fruit, yogurt, and string cheese. Of course no lunch would be complete with out Juicy Juice. That is all we drink. We even use the Box Tops for the kids school! :)
Nothing better than PB&J and carrots with ranch dressing!

Thanks for the chance to win, your quads are precious!!!
With school starting again for my soon-to-be 2nd grader I have been thinking about healthy lunches/snacks. Thankfully he is pretty easy to please. A couple faves are red grapes, raw brocoli and turkey rolled up.
My son is not a fan of sandwiches or string cheese so I give him diced ham cubes (sold by the whole hams in the store) in a little plastic container with a spoon. Would be great mixed with a couple cubes of cheese too. Great way to give him leaner protein without sending them with peanuts etc. which some schools won't allow because of allergies.
Craisins, especially cherry and pomegranate flavored, are the lunch box favorites right now. Easy, healthy (although they do have that aritifial stuff added) and not something that will end up in the trash rather than the belly! Have a kiddo who is allergic to apples, so that staple is out. Fortunately, apple juice, or sauce - once the apple is cooked - is okay. Happy back-to-big-kid-school to the Steece quads!
My four little boys (6,4, & 2 yr.old twins) all love string cheese, veggie straws, any kind of fruit, and yogurt...love that we have plenty of healthy choices for lunch. We're big Juicy Juice fans around here, too. Much healthier than the sugary juice box alternatives.
I don't have to pack lunches yet but when we go on family adventures I buy juice boxes as a special treat for my 2 yo.
Hummus (kids love to dip) with whole wheat pita chips
string cheese
Homemade soups which you reheat in the microwave till boiling than put it in a stainless steel thermos (hot for lunch time)
Yogurt (tubes) freeze them and put in lunch
fresh fruit/veggies
I always have fresh veggies and fruits. Cheese sticks and yogurt are also a great choice.

My family and I have just recently started eating healthier and we have always loved Juicy Juice. My 3 year old has a milk intolerance which makes it hard to chose healthy snacks, however she does love carrot sticks. We all know kids are picky eaters so anything healthy I can get down mine is great!
My daughter loves carrots and celery with low-fat ranch dip. I also pack her crackers and cheese slices with pepperoni; I make them into little sandwiches and pack them in a Ziploc baggie..she likes them instead of the usual sandwiches for lunch.
shel704 at aol dot com
My daughter hates peanut butter but she loves Nutella, so I put a little bit of Nutella on some crackers and slices apples for her snack.
My daughter is not in school, but I pack yogurt and fruit daily for her to have with the sitter. I want to be sure she gets good food and not junk.

I love to flatten a piece of whole wheat bread with a rolling pin, them spread with natural peanut butter. Roll it up jellyroll-style, then slice the "log" into tiny rolls. I include little all-fruit jam to dip the rolls into...YUM!

We alternate between String cheese, fruit cups, GoGurt (frozen when it goes in the bag, perfect by lunchtime) and fresh fruit for my niece's lunchbox
Last year I bought my son a thermos so I could send a 'hot' lunch. We've done soups, chili, mac 'n cheese, leftover casseroles, etc. Add some baby carrots and fruit and you've got a nice healthy lunch.

teenytig@sbcglobal.net
Lots of fresh fruits, low-fat yogurt and cut up veggies.
My 2 and 3 year olds love all fruits and veggies. Personally I could live off veggies alone and always have fresh-cut veggies out to snack on. After months of my kids watching me eat the veggies, they now snack with me; even radishes and broccoli and they don't have to have ranch dressing. Plus picking their own from Grandpa's garden and various farmers markets makes veggies even more interesting.
Apple chunks with peanut butter
I have 4 amazing kids..12,9,7 and 2! I try and get creative with their lunches. I like them to look forward to what I put in their lunch box. I often cut their sandwich with a cookie cuter...heart, circles, holiday themed. I also do stacked crackers, meat and cheese. I also put in a fresh fruit or veggie. I take a popsicle stick and make a fruit kebob, soybeans, hummus with carrots. I also like to put in a small sweet treat. I will make a trail mix and throw in a few mini m&m's, smore's ..1 graham cracker, 3 mimi marshmallow's a a few choc. chips and to drink we love Juicy Juice boxes, water, crystal light and milk. It gets crazy packing 4 lunches...but worth it when I know my kids are eating healthy!
