Kiss Those Stains Good-bye!

This is a compensated review by BlogHer and OxiClean.

BlogHer: "Suz, would you like to review 2 brand new OxiClean products that have the ability to lift the toughest of stains (while making whites whiter and colors brighter)?"...

Suz: "Umm, do I live in a house with 4 rough and tumble 2.5 year olds???!"

"U Betcha!!!!" Just take a look at our family blog!

So, how do these products work?

Power Pak- No more messy liquids or powders! Just toss 1 power pak, along with your detergent, into the washing machine while filling. (For high efficiency machines, place 1 pak directly into the drum before adding laundry) Doesn't get any easier than that, folks! Paks will dissolve quickly upon contact with water.
To remove extra tough stains: Toss 1 power pak into a gallon of the warmest water allowable for the fabric, allow mix to dissolve, add clothes and soak for 1-6 hours.

Gel Stick- Place Gel Stick directly onto the stain, pressing down to dispense the concentrated gel. Rub into fabric and allow to stand 5-10 minutes before washing in the warmest water allowed for the fabric. For BEST results, treat stains immediately. (or, if you're like me...you can wait about a week and still get good results from those nasty, set-in-stains!)

There is no doubt in my mind that these OxiClean products would have prevented MANY different articles of stained clothing from ending up in the garbage over the past several years. The Max Force Power Paks and Max Force Gel Stick worked wonders for our laundry. I'll let the pictures do the talkin'...

Meet Savannah. My darling daughter who has a sweet tooth the size of Texas. Sav recently indulged in all sorts of sugary treats while celebrating at a birthday party.

I was cringing inside- thinking of all the stains that were forming on her brand new lollipop shirt!...wondering if I would be able to work them out. And like many of the stained clothing in our household- the shirt sat in the dirty clothes hamper for almost a full week! (I know, I know- some call it lazy, I call it extremely busy!) On day 6, I treated the stains using the Max Force Gel Stick and threw it in the washing machine (along with a full load & a Max Force Power Pak). Whallah!

Not only have the stains disappeared, but the color is absolutely amazing! These OxiClean Max Force Power Paks unleash active oxygen (hence the "Oxi-" in the namebrand) which BOOSTS laundry detergent--resulting in colors that POP!

How about gray sweats with marinara stains? No problemo!

As you can see, we get LOTS of food stains around here...

And in case you were wondering, a Mexican food restaurant after church (with our nicest Sunday attire) is just askin' for stains.

...but the OxiClean Max Force products are equipped with 4 different types of stain fighters and are safe for all colors and temperatures--even those "Sunday chinos"!

I thought for sure that we would be throwing these 2 white shirts away. You see, Mama was "busy" again, a week went by, and I completely forgot to treat the stains (are you seeing a pattern here?). But for the sake of this review, I thought I would try it anyway---the true test, right?!

Shirt #1:

Shirt #2:

HOLY COW! I'm a believer!

Things I ♥ about the OxiClean Max Force products:

- Work as advertised: lift our stains (even stains that have been sitting for a week!) and brighten our clothes
- Smell GREAT! (and who doesn't love good smellin' clothes?!)
- Save us time & money by not having to re-run the washing machine over and over- trying to scrub out stains
- Safe for any type of clothing in any temperature
- Convenient and easy to use
- I'm seriously going to keep these products on hand at ALL times!

Things to consider:
- I have not had the opportunity to test these products on tougher stains (grass, blood, soil, grease, etc)
- Gel Stick is somewhat messy, but easily cleanable
- Retail Price: Stick~ $4.99; Paks~$7.99 (but worth every penny in my opinion)

The worst stain I've ever seen is last year when my newborn daughter leaked out of her diaper- it was everywhere and left horrible stains. I ended up just throwing the outfit away.

Worst stain...mud/dirt. Ugh! My kids lovely clothes with mud/dirt stains in the knees...all summer long. I am SO looking forward to trying these products (please tell me it's available in Canada!). The Spray N Wash I use now is not cutting it as my 3 y.o. twins are getting more and more active outside.

The worst stains I've had on clothing is when I did not know there was a blue ink pen in the pocket of my husbands jeans. It went through the washer, then the dryer, then on to all the clothing in the entire load. It was a nice surprise when I opened the dryer door, ha not! It totally ruined all the clothes. I'll have to give the oxi clean packs a try next time :)

Ketchup! It's not horrible to get out, but my daughter eats it on everything and it's always on her sleeves. Eventually after several wears and stains with ketchup (even after they come out) the shirt starts to look dull.

My worst stain(s) were from when my daughter left a crayon in her pocket... youch!!! The ordeal was not so bad through the washer as I didn't even know the crayon was there until I pulled her pants out of the HOT dryer! Luckily the only other thing that got "ruined" were some older beach towels.

The worse stain I have had to deal with is when my oldest was (2) she got into her dry eraser board and colored her brand new bedspread with the markers. You would think being a Parents brand that the markers would be washable, but NOPE! I tried everything (stain remover, swipe, grease lightening, etc.) After MANY, MANY loads most of it has faded but it also has taken a toll on the bedspread. Its not as bright and cheerful in color anymore. Unfortunately we still have the bedspread because it was too expensive to throw away. Plus, who knows what else she is eventually going to get on the bed. ;)

My worst stains always involve food and the chest area. :) Somehow, it becomes a catch-all! Most recently, I had on a brand new cream fleece from Eddie Bauer..only my 2nd time to wear it and wouldn't you know...SOMEhow I end up with chocolate ice cream (still trying to figure out that mystery...I would NEVER willingly eat chocolate ice cream in a cream colored top...nope! not me!) and somehow it ends up on the cream top! Actually used my Oxyclean and the stain is GONE!

I hate how my husband always choses to make spaghetti on the nights that I've dressed my 2 year old in a brand new shirt. I've even resorted to going back to the store and buying a duplicate shirt because I loved it so much and I just couldn't get the tomato sauce out.

Our worst stain is by far spaghetti sauce, we may be able to do a away with our spaghetti shirt now. For future reference if you get blood on clothing or bedding and the oxiclean will not get it out use hydrogine peroxide(I know I probably miss spelled that) the stuff you use on cuts and scrapes, just pour a little at a time on the stain and it will "eat" it away. It has saved our lovey many times.

This is non-clothes related but oh well :) After spending nearly an hour ironing a new WHITE duvet cover for my comforter (we had company coming, and I wanted it to look nice), I then spent a long time perfectly placing the huge comforter inside the duvet (like putting an over sized pillow into a tiny pillowcase :). After finishing that, I then made my bed only to realize that the whole duvet was covered in tiny drops of blood on one side. an old cut on my finger had reopened and had managed to spot little dots of blood all over while I was stuffing it. With company coming I was forced to just flip it over for the time being...until I could pay to get the thing cleaned (dry clean only :)

So, of course the first stain was bllod from a very crazy game...not really my son bites his nails so bad and one finger decided to start bleeding and we had red polka dots all over our white shorts. But, I have to say the worst is Red Gatorade....horrible had to let them sit for 5 days spraying them with spray and wash....I bet this product would of been a blessing!!!!

Sure there's the newborn poop...but most RECENTLY:
While at my nephew's b-day party, my 1 year old decided to put ice cream (chocolate) on her hair, on my face and shirt...and her new white shirt (I know...what was I thinking?) Of course there was colored icing on her shirt as well. Of course. THEN...as we were leaving...my sister in law hands her a BLOW POP. WHAT??? I let her play with it and figured that the few minute drive to a restaurant would be fine...as long as she didn't break into the wrapper. She did...red ALL over the shirt...with chocolate...and blue icing. FUN :)

It has to be my what seems like weekly burts bees wax stain. It never fails that I forget to check pockets and that is the ONE time, my sweet dear husband left it in his pocket. Greasy marks everywhere on everything. Usually it takes 3-4 washes for them to come out and that's using another brand stain lifter with each cycle. Guess what I'll be buying to have on hand for this weeks Bert's stain? :)

worst stain for me was when my dog got sick to her stomach on my shirt, yuck!!!!

The worst stain I've had is when my hubby left a pen in his pants while doing laundry. Somehow the big black spot ended up on MY scrub pants! I can still wear them with this one top that just barely covers it up, lol!

The toughest was definitely the blood stain on my husband's dress pants. He had no idea where it came from and I found it days later!

My worst stain was when I picked up a wooden shaped heart that I had painted and I THOUGHT it was dry! I was holding it to my chest and when I went to lay it down it was stuck to me. Once I peeled it off I had red paint all over the front of my clothes!

My worst stains (that I still can't get out) are from a green and orange crayon that my son got with a kid's menu while eating out one Sunday. He (unbeknownst to me) stuck them in his pocket and I washed and dried them in a load full of all of our laundry!!!

This is gross, but sweat stains!! Especially on white shirts--I can't escape it!! And they just turn that dingy off-white color, when it's so obvious it's supposed to be white! Yuck!

My worst stains are the liquid from inside Omega 3 (fish oil) capsules that my son takes. He doesn't swallow pills, so he would poke a hole in the capsule and squirt out the inside into his mouth, but he missed pretty frequently. Talk about a hard stain to get out!

Worst Stain?! EASY! While I was pregnant I would hide the fact that I was chowing down on chocolate from my husband...the downside to that is forgetting I had chocolate in my pockets and ran it through the washer/dryer. Bad news....he found out I was eating chocolate when I wasn't supposed to AND I had a ton of stains :( UGH! :)

My worst stains are my husband's work uniform shirts. They are white & long sleeved. Since he works outside, the sweat stains are almost impossible to remove (Texas summers are brutal on white shirts to begin with!), unless I soak them using a LOT of a (not very useful) stain remover and bleach, and soak them for an hour or more.

This winter I put on my favorite sweater for the first time in about a year. I got all ready for work, took my toddler to school, and headed to go teach. My junior high students quickly pointed out the disgusting white crustiness on my shoulder. Oops. Last winter, I had a baby who spit up more than any baby has ever spat up before. Ever. Last winter, when I was tired and worn out and couldn't keep up with laundry from all the spit-up, I hung my sweater back up.

As any good, hygienic mom would do, I let my hair down and tried to cover up the crusties. I washed it, but alas! The colors were all faded. If only I had these Oxi-Clean products on hand 3 months ago!!!

Moral #1: Look before you rehang
Moral #2: Try to glance in the mirror before heading out the door.

(I wonder if OxiClean could?!)
